Some of my favourite personalities are YouTubers. And some of them want the fame and fortune of chasing the dream of being a big influencer!
A blogger writes on a website or a social media service (microblogging), and a vlogger video records presentations. Vlogging is the hotter of the two. There’s nothing better than a taste of Hollywood nostalgia, and it’s great to hear a TV journalist discuss what is going on in the world.
While a good vlogger can routinely (and sometimes casually) go viral, a smaller influencer or several may be better for you than someone towing a line. Consider referring to modest sources, instead of solely big ones, the big guns, such as Warner Bros, or CNN.
With the pandemic, embracing video content became all the more normal a pastime, when health care shuttered public destinations. I am not blogging the point of view of the creators. I want to pick up on how you can enjoy YouTube and feel supportive of your favourite vloggers.
They’re trying to live a dream! Making videos for a living on YouTube means you will only succeed if people watch the videos. If a YouTuber doesn’t have an audience, that creator will be unable to support a lifestyle solely through YouTube.
If you like video content, you should deal with a few realities. YouTube’s algorithm will give you recommendations that will waste your time if you are not attentive. Looking back at what I wrote in 2019, I saw that I complained that YouTube was beginning to become a platform only for mainstream entertainment, such as cable news and Hollywood filmmaking.
When YouTube creators upload a mixture of original and copyrighted content, this can be flagged as a copyright violation, making the video inaccessible. YouTube is an extraordinary place for anyone who enjoys transferring recordings to the Internet, but that does not mean making a living at it is simple. That’s the nature of the beast.
The creators that you most enjoy should be people for whom you are loyal, supportive and careful. There is a good chance that a creator will produce more videos if their work gets attention. If you want to watch more of their stuff, watch your favourite creators’ videos from start to finish, and also consider watching the YouTube ads on their videos.
I am willing to speculate that those tips will make whom you chose in vlogging to enjoy watching even more prurient. When you join in with others who want to watch the same thing, you’re making money. Your creator’s fame is your fame.
You are part of a great, loyal viewing audience. You ought to watch your perusing propensities, on the off chance that you don’t need your inclinations met with advertisements on YouTube. Many tech services show users ads inspired by real-life habits.

Let’s use Star Wars as an example. The greatest challenges faced by Star Wars Last Jedi director Rian Johnson were largely for his indifference to making good movies, in contrast to the feelings fans have for Star Wars Force Awakens director JJ Abrams. It isn’t a scientific correlation, but Abrams recreated elements of Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope and accordingly made Force Awakens into a billion-dollar box office success.
Star Wars IV A New Hope is a favourite for many who fondly remember it. Borrowing from the film’s pool of goodwill was a good idea for Abrams. With the eighth Skywalker film, Lucasfilm again earned a fortune, but many fans were unsatisfied.
The Last Jedi was hastily-constructed in some areas. Despite Rey’s history as a Force-sensitive heroine, Force Awakens did not explore her backstory with the emotional heft of the original trilogy. Abrams, tasked with directing Episode IX Rise of Skywalker, attempted to return to some of the story elements Johnson introduced in Episode VIII while bringing back the spirit of the original trilogy that comes across in Force Awakens.
Without a fandom to get the word out, the controversy of The Last Jedi would have been moot. Instead, we heard many opinions on the Disney sequel films from the fandom, often negative, often on social media.
That’s what a good YouTube supporter should do. Provide your perspective. It’s your unofficial responsibility!
A person dancing with fame is under pressure. The image of an influencer must be tight. Somebody should put me in charge! 🙂

In my professional role, I manage a Facebook page for a family business, and I am watching to see if Facebook and Instagram will make good on their announcement that they will cease serving Europe unless data regulations remain favourable. Maybe that will be another blog post from me.
If the subject of Facebook enters the conversation, my mom likes to say she isn’t on it.
That doesn’t mean there isn’t a Facebook account in my dad’s name, and I think my mother also thinks that the two of them, my mom and my dad, have the same outlook, and disposition. By that logic, I take it that an account apiece isn’t necessary for them. Comments they leave are usually attributed to one or the other.
I have a small Facebook account. But despite having a humble reverence for the David Fincher-directed 2010 film The Social Network, my pleasure in being on Facebook is helping to run a not-for-profit business. For example, this very morning, a woman let me know, with an email to the Facebook page for the business, that she finds the business very beautiful, and you’ll understand why in a moment.
In 2007, at the sales company where I worked, Facebook on the desktop computers was blocked, so that entrance-level employee couldn’t enjoy it. At that time, even for a young man like me, Facebook was a lifeline. In 2012, Facebook App Center, an internet-based portable store, was carried out onto the market.
The store at first had 500 Facebook applications. which were. for the most part, games. I remember wondering why was this happening. Why were so many users playing games?
Around this time, my dad did kind of a noble thing, when, after years of helping manage the municipal cemetery for his job, he came across a little cemetery on the other side of town. Their trustees were hoping to share the burial ground with the district he had worked for.
My father acquired the cemetery and welcomed me on as a partner in 2012. For a nonprofit, as a retiree might characteristically enjoy working at, presently we require one day a week, ordinarily.
I am not sure I suggested it myself, but it was probably me who did–making a business page on Facebook for the cemetery, so interested people could easily get ahold of us, like the woman did this morning. My dad had wanted a website for the cemetery, and this extra measure was one more step, a Facebook page
I compose posts that flow data about characteristic concerns we have. You see, I research and blog. I am an amateur writer.
I’ve composed a few brief tales, however, I don’t have the standard novel or screenplay that an essayist frequently has. I’m really an amateur blogger with family business ties. The business page on Facebook has nearly a hundred accounts of people who “like” it, and most of the control of the page falls to me.
One friend of the business, an elderly lady, I got to know a little during her brief visits to the cemetery, and also when the two of us interacted together on Facebook, had advice for me that I continue to apply on the Facebook business page.
My mother may never have signed up for Facebook, but I think she is pleased to think I show the initiative to manage the page. My mom worked for a small business for many years, as a clerk. We actually argue about many matters, but as long as I show a commitment to my dad’s retirement business, I continue to hold some cards in the game, between the three of us.
Nowadays Facebook has a significant draw, yet what we would never have expected are the losses Facebook has had to confront. Remember the lead-up to the appointment of 2016, when it was discovered that Facebook was utilizing Cambridge Analytica? That information firm gave Hillary Clinton a benefit, as her position was greater for Facebook than Donald Trump’s pass into the White House would have been.
It was trouble. Trump’s since been banned from Facebook, as well as from other social media. Granted, Maple Lawn Cemetery’s a small page, and we don’t handle cash transactions there, so the Cambridge Analytica scandal didn’t impact us much, although the distrust in the air that grew for Zuckerberg did have a toxic impact on how people used Facebook, compared to how they used it before the 2016 scandal.
Two days ago, in the early hours, CNET Tech, when reporting on Facebook going against the British Parliament, discussed online one Damian Collins, a member of parliament. Even now, Frances Haugen, CNET reports, is preparing to speak to British Parliament. It was Collins who took Cambridge Analytica to task in 2016, across the pond, and he is quoted as saying, “There needs to be greater transparency on the decisions companies like Facebook take when they trade off user safety for user engagement.”
The issue is that Facebook utilizes information about its customers to maneuver them to invest more energy, again became a national topic Sunday when Frances Haugen, a former Facebook worker, showed up on TV to clarify that Facebook is investigating strategies for better compelling and ultimately how to benefit from kids helpless against Facebook fixation.
Facebook has been successful this week demonstrating to the European Union that Facebook has adequate privacy protections in place, but they remain dodgy. Frances Haugen did them no favours, however.
You know, I don’t think my mother thinks about those kinds of things.
My mom has the perception that people are talking to each other when they are posting on Facebook. You can say that’s true, however, I think she sees those individuals “talking” rather than the more accurate description that anyone, when Facebook posts are public, can cooperate with those posts. The explanation for this is those messages from Facebook, about those individuals that you have been cooperating with, is not that those individuals posting have chosen companions to send messages to (ie my mom, I suppose).
What I mean is that when my mother is happy to leave a comment on a post, say, composed by a cousin of hers or by an aunt, with my dad’s account, the reason emails from Facebook come back to him with reminders is that my mother has initiated contact, with his account, with those family members, it is not because those family members want emails sent to him and to her (my mom and dad).
The drawback I personally have run into on Facebook is that I have that one friend who reacts to lots of the posts I do put up. He’s bizarre. I know there’s a cliched perception that if your mother is reading what you are posting on Facebook, you are dealing with trouble, but to that end I don’t remember too many times that the account that my mom and dad use came back with reactions to my posts.
My mom is good that way. Lots of times, I am dropping posts with little to no engagement, although I have an idea what works to at least merit a little bit of a reaction.
Many people prescribing what’s called a dopamine detox suggest staying off social media. Sometimes they say they never felt better after getting away from Facebook for a while (better, or clearer-headed).
I don’t think my mom ever felt Facebook was a problem among me and my brother and my sister. We aren’t children.
My mom doesn’t like me eating too much junk food, but she doesn’t raise objections to too much Facebook use. It just isn’t that Facebook is the problem its detractors say it is.
I doubt that Zuckerberg is the disrupter that Jesse Eisenberg plays him as in the David Fincher film. That really is great cinema. The brilliance of the ambiguity of the conclusion of the film leaves you with the knowledge of how the film’s events next played out in the real world and leaves the audience to ask an existential question, about the value of what Zuckerberg has done.
Jessie Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg is the Nietzschean overman who makes a brave journey, a very satisfying ideology. I find Facebook pleasant and harmless. Occasionally if I come on too strong, for a stranger’s liking, I get rebuked, but usually, I pick safe moves that don’t rock the boat too much.
Compared to both Facebook and Instagram, where the drawbacks are becoming ugly to discuss, I retain an optimistic view of Twitter, and I respect the measures Jack Dorsey has implemented to deal with hate speech, which while known to be a problem on Twitter, doesn’t engender the same conversation that I know of that it does about Facebook. Twitter is actually getting so it can conceivably warn you if you are writing an incendiary tweet. It is a changing attitude for the service, for sure.
About Facebook, people say things like hate content will earn more views and that is probably true, although I don’t know why. Facebook is being blamed for allowing this. I think that a person can be more attractive if they aren’t focused on material that is hateful.
A spiritual outlook is better, I think, say, like to believe that there is good in everyone, if it is only nurtured. Hate is a terrible quality to define a person by. There is vast beauty in the world, and to spend your time on Earth consumed by hatred is not a fine way to live life.
When I was a little kid, my mother would say the cliché, “If your friends jumped off a bridge, would you do the same?” It’s not quite the same thing, as my mom doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with Facebook. I don’t, really, either, despite the Cambridge Analytica scandal in 2016, and now the Frances Haugen 60 Minutes debacle.
Perhaps those people with whom my mom chats on Facebook, though they may understand Facebook better than my mother does, do like having comments from her, and like having their posts viewed. That my mother can mentally translate Facebook use into a “chat” that is organic in the sense that people are having a catch-up lets me know that there are probably many people who view Facebook, and Facebook Messenger, the same as that.
The mental concept of Facebook automatically translates into a natural style of conversation instead of being too robotic, which is old hat for anybody who can remember the days that Internet chat was a chief part of the Internet’s function, whether that was AOL or MSN Messenger, or, these days, Facebook Messenger.
Perhaps my participation in services like MSN Messenger back in the day helped elucidate for my mother how it is that Internet chat goes, but it is more likely that talk with my sister Kaite is what educated my mother into an understanding of Internet chat, as Kaite thinks of herself as an early adopter of Facebook.
Like a feedback loop, my sister’s instruction to my mother brought round for me insight into how people view Facebook and Facebook Messenger. Other people must have similar reactions when they are becoming familiar with it. While I would have understood it regularly given my experience on MSN Messenger as everybody had in the 2000s, I too feel that I am right as rain about how it is to be on Facebook, but not at the expense of how I feel it is to be part of a community inside Facebook.
The problem is the question of whether Facebook will keep a good enough reputation for itself among most Internet users around the world. Though my mom’s understanding of Facebook is probably largely due to my sister’s help, I think my mom is right that she sees the use of Facebook in a simple but useful light. None of that would be going on without my sister’s words of explanation for my mother and father.
I should remember that when I am writing emails to Kaite. Respect due, Kaite is married and has a little one at home, and has been working in the city of London, England, where their family resides.
My mom may discourage junk food, but Facebook is right by her. I remember my high school librarian who referred to many works of fiction as being “ice cream reading,” meaning they weren’t high-value books. Funny how that is.

Reinvention, in the year 2021, is one way to move out of our present circumstances. It is no mystery that the future will not be the same as was intended.
There is an undercurrent of happiness again these days. Just surviving has become like a triumph, and love may prove the order of the day.
A worldwide perception of a second chance come is rare, and the future is unwritten; here is an age of miracles. You should reinvent thoroughly and carefully.
Governance could at this time be set free by Big Tech, or it could be screwed down like a bench at a bus stop intended not to be stolen.
In Canada, it is debated whether Canadian media on the Internet could get paid, with Bill C-10 ready to put Canadian content front and centre on sites where it is not now automatically top-tier content, kind of a detriment if you don’t wish a Canadian flavour every time you want a user video recommendation. Nor should Canadian viewer recommendations get like the offerings of AI bots behind walls at HQ, or further like that, as I suppose they may already be.
Watching Green offer reflections alone in the US desert, about the planet getting back to to a pre-pandemic normal, Green, whom I remember in Road Trip directed by Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman, raised the point of how adaptation, not the adaptation of literature to film, but the adaptation you can utilize, being how you could save the endeavours you want for yourself to succeed in the face of unknown days. You start confidently and your handle on what we are facing will strengthen your resolve. I think Green is going, possibly, from the field of comedy, into music.
Without being afraid of having dropped the ball, I am having some trouble relating to the concept of schools as we understand them now, leaving behind their classrooms on campuses without that experience. Goodness, excited about the future opening up for us, if it is not ultimately restricted by forces that we neither foresee coming nor welcome.
There must sometimes be a natural intelligent design for learning–that there could never be would be a very remote possibility. Intelligent design occurs frequently enough that I can not be discouraged from believing what we have is merely a happy accident.
I sometimes wish that, when I once considered affording myself some of the opportunities youth brings, I could have opted for hard work, in light of the big picture. At age seventeen I could have begun to become marketable for the reason, chiefly, of challenging myself to appeal to social norms. Opportunities most frequently available are now changing in nature, while content, as Bill Gates said, could well remain king.
Recently, last year and this year, my posts, each to a recollected song, under the nominal tutelage of Jim Adams, were rejected, when Adams decided he no longer welcomed my participation. That is fine, as my reflections helped me get better organized, and of my several posts for Song Lyric Sunday, even if the posts were finally met with dismay, most of them were useful in their own right.
Beginning again the last few weeks, with a new temperament, how now in the days of yesteryear, when I came up with observations that grew from insights that author Jeff Goins introduced, bestselling author of The Art of Work, with notes on Facebook about how to blog. They never demanded a lot of work, but by now with a little work, they keep my little readership alive.
I don’t mind resuming the approach with which I began in 2012. Without a proper book, or even trying to write a proper book, I might be accused of taking in a blog of this shape and style, mine, without effective longtime goals.
But The Art of Work is the bestseller in Jeff Goins’ hand, about people who carved out singular paths for themselves, and it’s a wonderful book. I doubt it was written in the bathroom at parties.

For April 2020, the WordPress Discover challenges are back. Ben Huberman is leading them this week.
Today’s Discover theme is the word “new.” The challenge suggests reflecting on a new activity. “New” sometimes carries with it a connotation of “young,” and what is younger and as delightful than the going platform for fifteen-second video, TikTok?
It is clear that the social media video service TikTok appeals to the young, but some adults use it, and while I suppose it requires discretion, there are a lot of funny fifteen-second videos that are wonderful. Teaching myself the use of TikTok has provided the biggest payoff for me of late, in terms of an activity that doesn’t do anything short of providing enjoyment.
Why should youth culture be exclusive to the young? If you have any interest in cultural phenomena that characterize youth culture, whether you’re an adult or not, TikTok provides video-format feedback for your interest in a way that is mostly unique to the platform.
I invented a strategy to discover videos. The most popular entries among the fifteen-second video presentations don’t always interest me, but I devise ten phrases at a time, which is how TikTok works, that I use to search for people who have cool videos. I run through them and see what jumps out of the results for me.
For example, any short phrase, like, for example, the two-word phrase “next message,” provides a variety of random but potentially interesting video results. It certainly isn’t scientific, but that’s the tact I take in my pursuit. Obviously, fifteen seconds is a very short time, but even a few minutes on TikTok can pay off.
For example, specifically, any interest in, say, Star Wars is easily accommodated. There are so many Star Wars fans on TikTok, and, as I’ve said in another post about TikTok, the phenomenon of identifying yourself by a Lego Star Wars picture is persistent. Although the latest film trilogy has concluded, with Season 2 of The Mandalorian and also Season 7 of the animated prequel-era Star Wars series The Clone Wars, Star Wars continues to be a “presence,” like Obi-wan Kenobi was for Vader in 1977’s Star Wars film, aboard the Death Star, it is true that any interest in Star Wars is easily met on TikTok. Wonderful, all in all.
I had tried implementing rules that I would only permit so many minutes of the day to be spent on social media, and to stay away from negative YouTube videos, but by now I am spending much more time on YouTube. There are days when I enjoy watching recent videos from the channel The Quartering, which seem to be pretty successful for the content creator doing that channel, whose name is Jeremy. Some of his insights into what it’s like it being a successful YouTuber are interesting for me.
Despite an almost-total detox from YouTube I did, for the entire month of February, I find some pleasure once again in experiencing videos done on favourite channels of mine.
On YouTube, The Quartering is a channel that finds random news stories typically about gaming. The Quartering’s Jeremy gets outspoken about his bad experiences with YouTube monetization and his subscriber count. A week ago, although I try to stay resolved to avoid negative-minded creators, a rival YouTube launched what was perhaps a ninety-minute attack on Jeremy, reminding us again that Jeremy announced he was done with struggling with the 280-character social media platform Twitter and going so far as to speak out against it.
I enjoy some of the videos from The Quartering and I wasn’t aware of what Jeremy was like on Twitter. I haven’t had similar experiences with tweeting that have left me sour, and I think it’s positively stellar.
A lot of young people get on bandwagons. I tend to suspect that the young take for granted, often enough, anyway, the same tools which they have been shown how to use and for who it is second nature. Some of that stuff posted to TikTok is noteworthy for different reasons.
On TikTok, I may be looking away so often that I am not seeing the best “remixes,” but I don’t understand metrics on TikTok, other than that there are likes on relevant videos. I think TikTok is an enormous co-mingling of the best and the brightest, but I know The Quartering disagrees–makes sense, he’s on YouTube.
I see huge amounts of cooperative TikTok, and I see happiness, and fulfilled videographers. I guess I prefer words, of a nature that a computer keyboard does indeed capitulate, but there is a lot of creativity in user video.
I started telephone sales work in the 2000s, but after the economy crashed, I started spinning my wheels. My family got involved when my dad, who during his career with the municipality managed a cemetery for many years, was able to swing a deal when he learned of a little cemetery that required better operations, in his opinion.
I don’t think anyone refers to TikToks as edits, but The Force is a formidable category on YouTube.
While the protests and the petition signatures were clear, the directive to restrict copyrighted material, known as Article 13 in the EU, received a “yes.”
Video on YouTube will likely no longer include “remixed” content once individual nations of the EU establish how they’re going to legislate protection for mainstream media, its images, film clips, and music. For years now, the Internet has taken liberties in the name of freedom, to borrow from established media and then return to it transformative work, for the purpose of review, satire, parody and other kinds of humour. This will likely end.
On YouTube, content filters for video uploads could become stodgy, and uninventive. Removing freedoms to speak with ideas recycled from mainstream media inhibits Internet creators’ ability to articulate. These come in the form of memes, even when it is an upset to the original, and identities in solidarity with views closely held to championed archetypes. In the face of traditional media protected by Article 17 in the EU, emerging voices can and will fall by the wayside.
If the nations of the EU no longer can upload or view content that contains copyrighted elements, for YouTube, a platform that facilitates hundreds of millions of hours of new and original video every day, doors are closing for what is a livelihood for hardworking creators.
In addition, the possibility that social accounts would be charged fees to link to web pages is a terrible limitation for small bloggers, with pages that have no hope of affording such a privilege. This was the spring, of 2019, when Articles 11 and 13 became Article 17. There is every possibility that the restrictions on uploading copyrighted content in the EU will drift into the same freedoms available regardless of where the Internet is accessed and overtake them.
A content filter is complex; it could be, despite how valuable original content is for Google and for Facebook and Twitter, that content filters will only function effectively if they are applied universally, and not just in the EU. This could be a matter of months or years from now, but the challenges facing the EU, by creators on YouTube, and users enjoying social, and the right of Google to chart the world as it’s understood online, should be informing you. You should at least consider the possibility that you need to be informed.
Article 17 will heavily favour the promotion of mainstream media. Independent voices will lose the opportunity to include portions of copyrighted media, and this could mean a “talking head” style of video on YouTube rather than video containing the freedoms we enjoy now. All art and video would be required to be free of copyrighted material, which I think is a practical impossibility.
There are creators who thrive on the “remix” of media images or industry music or PC games. Formerly, they were smart enough to make a living doing that, and exceptionally. Their opportunities are going to disappear.
The outcome of Article 17 in the EU is only just beginning to take shape, but there will be changes for Facebook and Twitter and YouTube that Article 13 is necessitating, the requirement to filter content video users upload. Users on the Internet, with the support of the infrastructure of YouTube and Google, will have to strategize differently once Article 17 goes into effect. It is a sea change.

Not to say that video doesn’t have many, many uses, sometimes even critical, I have thought of some observations debunking video. Information learned from video research can be useful, particularly if it is assembled in a blog shared on Facebook.
I feel, historically, video research does not hold up given its artifice as evidence. With good editing, that difficulty is somewhat rectified. Here are five more ways that video research is overrated. These are ways that video does not provide any more substantive information than where is otherwise available.
Twitter’s Vine, now Periscope launched people with a genius for shooting six-second long videos, usually intended to be funny, meaning that if you were a creator with a knack for coming up with hilarious six-second videos. On Vine, you could build a reputation and attract an audience. The problem is that Vine came to an abrupt end because behind the scenes Twitter was continually working on becoming profitable and Vine didn’t enter the equation. Therefore the six-second video format of Vine left the Internet. This is an example how video did not work in a specialized format that was “cool,” new and stimulating.
Another way that video has failed the mainstream is the interesting but absurd idea that you can video-record phenomena, like Bigfoot, or UFOs. An idea of going on an expedition to get a video recording of Bigfoot in his natural habitat, or UFOs in the night sky, often gets debunked by skeptics as “hoax.” True experiences with phenomena of this kind go with a lot of excitement and potentially lasts only briefly. Videos of this kind are often derided, despite, of course, the additional risk that goes with trying to capture evidence of what’s alien and supernatural. Also, there is the problem of informing on mysteries which government authorities commonly downplay. If you want specifics about extraterrestrial astronauts, I think you will have a hard time procuring verifiable video recordings. Celebrity video recordings are not a reliable example of a video that can be examined for research purposes. A celebrity sells a brand. Observations made by the celebrity have an end goal in mind, not a general desire to be casually revealed. Researching the brand might be an approach, however, to video research that you could apply, but I think finding both a starting point and an endpoint could be difficult. It might even take researching techniques for analyzing a brand if you’ve never studied that. I doubt that you will find in a video the best information about analyzing a brand. That being said, I have no doubt you can earn the skill-set to analyze a brand as it’s represented in a video. I think the evidence for the success of the brand would be better extrapolated by looking at the brand in the market apart from its appearance in a video context. To be fresh, I think you would have to apply some expert touches.
Coaching lessons in packages of a student-ready video may turn out to be somewhat dull in comparison to more novel approaches to learning. A year ago I enjoyed completing a great WordPress course. I took photos over the course of a couple of weeks, learning a little about photography with each and making something out of each lesson. Try referencing research sources, perhaps some interactive, other than just video lessons, and I am thinking in addition about getting around the price of the video information, if it is part of a curriculum, belying how useful the information is. For example, a life coach offering videos to elevate your self-esteem could prove fruitless if you can’t make the lessons work, or if your intention falters and you no longer are acting in the manner required by the video curriculum. This is important to note. You can apply change only as much as you are mentally prepared to.
I want to wrap this up with the suggestion that video research could have you preoccupied and unfocused what with possibilities opening for you that are more and more seductive and complicated. You should remember your focus; you are not going to benefit by wasting time. Too much video and you are not getting done anything that’s worthwhile. I feel if you are a consumer of video from a small number of creators who have focused themselves on something relatable, the focus that puts you amid them is what will keep you thinking consistently. By that, I mean thinking in a way that organic learning, by a process of discovery, rather than by merely looking aimlessly, will be of some benefit to you. Your critical thinking may engage if you proceed this way. I would put it to you to learn in this fashion.

I’d been focusing when I could on five more ways you can dispense with some of the time you’re putting into video research. If you do anything like that and if you think of consuming video content as being video research, then increasingly I don’t think there’s a consensus that anything like video research is useful. I’m looking back in time when there were different attitudes to video. I mean that it wasn’t as accessible as it today. It occurs to me I should argue that if you are committed to any research activity utilizing video, and there’s a ready workaround, you should concentrate on the workaround.
The first part for this post, about chasing an adherent to research, left off with points how you can turn some of your conclusions into blog posts. Or if you don’t have a blog, there’s somewhere you could start. I would like to make the point that the best conclusions you can form from watching a lot of videos can indeed be put somewhere, like in a blog, or a podcast, etc. For example, on Patrick Bet-David’s Valutainment on the internet, I watched Bet-David and Robert Greene discuss Greene’s latest bestseller. Bet-David pointed out that Greene sat down with three hundred books to write his latest book, for the pay-off. That’s the traditional sense of research that I don’t think you should disregard in any way. There is no way that you can eliminate the process of reading the page, or perhaps your Kindle, from the actual work of doing research. Sad but true.
The traditional sense of video is taking a video camera to a wedding and then selling it to the wedding party. The best research you can cultivate from a video of that kind is whether a particular family member was in attendance, or perhaps how the bridesmaids looked when they were standing side by side. Do you see many wedding videos, apart from celebrity weddings, that make it onto the Internet? I am not sure there are, particularly as the advent of the handheld video camera has given way to the smartphone camera. If you are a young person reading this, and you don’t relate to the idea of a videographer at a wedding, it isn’t that different from a professional photographer taking pictures. It is just that the videographer mingles with the wedding party and gets a little movie of the wedding.
I’m writing there about commercial consumer video, not expensive TV productions. The thing about the video you watch is that when it is a pricey production, I don’t think you can count on it for insight. Particularly when focusing on video production for TV, in the nineteen sixties, seventies, and eighties, when the technology was useful enough to shoot material for television, and before computers were beginning to infiltrate it, there just wasn’t a lot of purely informative video. The novelty on being on video overshadowed a requirement, to be honest. As soon as the camera was recording, everybody was immediately acting at all times. That sounds like a polarized argument, but ninety-nine percent of the time if you were being paid to appear on camera, you were acting to do it. Speaking jovially, you had to nail it.
What happened in the mid-nineteen-eighties? Computer effects were beginning to be integrated into more and more of the ready video, which starts to become interesting for the possibility that more and better information could be communicated by video. With more information is born the reality that better information begins to come across. Purists might disagree, but fast-forward fifteen years and amateur video is not only more accessible but could also be edited on par with the best of people in the trade in previous decades. There had been an explosion of video on cable TV which meant more ways to deliver information by video. Did that mean you could derive better conclusions in the sense that by better I mean better located in reality? I think so. You always want the past back, once you’re past a certain age, but there is some logic, or I am doing my best to apply logic here.
The apparent irony is that the development of the computer industry accelerated at a much faster pace than did the growth of video. I’m tempted once more to stop, but it’s true that by the time video was in its golden years, the computer industry was spritely, pardon the pun, spritely and skyrocketing for many, many people. I don’t want to mislead you unfairly, but surely some blame for some of the big, really bad troubles that have hit people where there is free access to information lies with what’s just bad information. That caution gets sounded frequently, and where before I was tempted to stop then and there, now I really am going to stop.

By video research, I mean watching video content to gain information about a topic. To render the inscrutable meaningful, I am trying to re-envision specific ideas I have about video research. To try to make this fun, I am re-envisioning 15 ways that the progress I try to make utilizing video research actually makes an impact (for me).
This will include examples of why it is I am conjecturing the phrase video research isn’t dropped onto the page constantly.
The first thing that I am focusing on is when I actively became aware of the possibility of video research. You might say the stars aligned (nearly) and I think it was when I was compelled by my younger friend B. pointing out that I could listen to youths crying out with the Internet. This is so sensitive. In my defense, I both saw I could get into hard-to-tackle specifics with a computer, and also I discarded the idea to pursue B.’s style of research, which is a misnomer, as it wasn’t video being researched, it was more like gamer hack-and-slash. In B.’s defense, he became a teacher for a living. [I hope he is still doing that. He dropped off Facebook a long time ago (without an explanation).]
With an awareness like that, it has to be tempered with the recognition that humans require respect. Interesting uses of Internet video express things which are unfathomable and also perhaps too sensitive to extrapolate. The very most interesting experiences with the Internet, I think, and when outside elements of the world beyond the Internet enter and, I suppose, reflect the viewer experiencing the video, which is hard to concisely explain. If there is a simple explanation for this, perhaps from lecture halls or elsewhere, and you know of such a thing, forgive me. Leave me a comment if you like. On the simplest level, people can leave user comments for a creator who responds. I am pretty sure I have a few variations of that straightforward element of the Internet.
I think in 2018 WordPress turned 15 years old, didn’t it? A technique for growing your blog readership, if you’re on WordPress, is to leave user comments on other bloggers’ work. The point is that if you do this respectfully and consistently, eventually sympathetic or otherwise interested bloggers who you have contacted will reciprocate by interacting with you. Now you may ask me, and I am prepared for this in the eventuality it happens, “How do you know that? You don’t seem to have much readership of note.” “Yes,” I will reply, not impudently, “but I simply have not devoted the focus to constantly read blogs and interact with them. My blog, as yet, is an amateur effort.” At that point, I hope you do not disappear abruptly, although if this is the case, that is fine, as I hope to better strategize in 2019 than I have in the past.
I hope to pursue this as long as it is a possibility. What I’ve observed is that WordPress techniques are not the same as those on a more characteristically “social” platform. I would argue that during what I’ve learned, I’ve enjoyed the process. I am tempted to leave this point there and then, but even with confirmation bias indicating that if I am predisposed to a set of beliefs that highly values an “art for art’s sake” attitude, the argument I want to make is that this specific confirmation bias is perfectly fine and I want to run with it in 2019. How then, what can you, you might ask, do to make your blog more readable? Well, you can take it on Facebook and ask people you’ve met to read it. That’s a tactic that can help you start a blog and potentially get results that are interesting for you.
We’re beginning to talk about video research, but the first thing I think of trying to approach something that’s sensitive is some obvious problems coming up right away. These fifteen points are geared to getting your attention away from what you should do with the video you watch, and what you are already doing with your blog, or how it is you could start a blog. The conclusion that can be drawn, and it’s not science, but a method, is that you can draw on video research to formulate something that you’d like people to read and you can put it on WordPress.

These first five points are trying to get to the point, saying you can take video, turn it into blog content, get a running start with your blog, and go from there. I am going to return with what shall be two more posts, aiming to illustrate ten more ways that you can do something more with video than just watch it.

I think of The Beatles being a radical success in music history, given the enormity of their popularity, even decades later.However, how does that view of The Beatles relate to contemporary ideas about success, and how it is won?
I have ten reasons I’m suggesting that success like what The Beatles enjoyed is actually a weak link in terms of what it means for the individual to pursue preconceived notions of success and how it is misleading. The first four were presented in a previous blog post. The remaining six are presented here.
Netflix is the leader of the pack, I believe, for video streaming. They devote an enormous budget to original content and their selection of existing content is good. That said, Disney is in the streaming video service market. Netflix in my region is compatible with my Tivo, as are other video streaming services. The selection of videos on Netflix is good. I want to step out of the chain of logic to ask if that implies that Tubi, a free video streaming service also compatible with my Tivo is a weak link. Netflix is a completely enjoyable experience and Tubi is likewise an extra addition to the Tivo I use. It isn’t too hard to say which could be better assessed to be a radical success, in the future. That said, while Netflix has been successful remaining ahead of the curve, Tubi is probably under far less pressure. Does Tubi’s relative weak link status mean that it isn’t a success? It is free to use.
Going forward with the theory that radical success means enormous difficulty, consider the contender that could grab much of Netflix’ market share, Disney. Disney is unlikely to be going anywhere, given its weight as an entertainment brand, being known for its films, television, toys and theme parks.
Which of the two, Netflix or Disney, will be more of the radical success–that a good streaming service can be? Or will they both amount to great success? Disney has built in family appeal, given its products are for both adults and kids alike. Netflix has been building that kind of appeal from scratch, but persistently. Will either Netflix or Disney be a weak link? It seems important to me that entertainment be good, when it is accessed, or experienced.
Netflix has a reputation for spending extravagant amounts of money on shows and films. Disney already has an enormous built-in capacity for success in the future, in addition to plans for its video streaming service.
3. I started this post by saying there is a fiftieth-anniversary release of The White Album coming 11/9. From what I understand about music streaming services, Spotify has a great conversion rate bringing customers from free use of Spotify onto the premium version. I would ask, if taken to task, whether Spotify will be a “weak link.”
From everything I can say, music with Spotify is magnificent. It seems to be an awesome service.
It is understood that The Beatles essentially recorded The White Album live to 8-track tape, and for everything they’d done in the name of their music, they were in fact recording music that would be a bit of a farewell to their fans. If less scrutiny was being given to the music emerging on The White Album, would The Beatles have lasted longer? And recorded songs for longer than they did? I think it is possible, for when something is intended to be “perfect,” it is often a departure the way a pinnacle climbed must then be descended.
4. If you are following my argument, you might guess that the weak link I’m referring to is the former President of the United States, Donald Trump. An example of someone about who there is much to decry that could be a weak link is the President.
As he is someone who was a TV star, I think it is worth mentioning here the radical success that he is known for enjoying and how at the same time the President has mounting problems that he is both a radical success, being wealthy and commanding power, but also a “weak link” in that he could bring down the whole show if he is not effective. President Trump has a knack for appearing with ferocious emphasis again and again in the news, and yet he faces so much criticism and real-life repercussions and consequences that I think he makes a great example of a “weak link” who is at the same time a radical success.

5. The ninth reason I want to assert that a weak link can be very much undermining is the idea that if you begin to succeed as an entrepreneur you can find yourself under more pressure than you ever anticipated facing. Making money is many people’s idea of success, but you usually have to put in years of work to make your dreams come true. And in this scenario, ironically, you yourself could be the weakest link if you don’t meet obstacles well.
Unless you keep improving, day in and day out, you could end up being the weak link in your organization simply owing to the fact that your luck could change. If you have found a strategy that makes you King Midas, turning everything you touch to gold, if all of a sudden your luck changes, you may now be suddenly be faced by weakness. You need to keep improving and being good. Everything that took you somewhere is behind you; you have to continue to make great decisions. I suspect you’ll see for yourself if you falter.
6. The final reason I want to take back to Geeks + Gamers. If you have someone, like Jeremy, who is comfortable discussing games, films, and sports, an articulate individual, who sees success coming from YouTube, from a Facebook group, from Twitch I suppose, who challenges who is at the top, as with The Last Jedi, I think it is a philosophical note to say that if you are at that pinnacle, there is any number of reasons your descent will be hastened by those who come after you. You have to reach that pinnacle in excellent form; and you have to leave it in such a way that it endures, that there could be a fiftieth-anniversary, that there could be another billion-dollar blockbuster, that there could be a second term. This is all vital, from a philosophical standpoint, what must be done if radical success, like the kind that spreads all around the globe, is to be achieved and then preserved.
